Two kinds of offers in the listings
Container on the advertiser's yard. The container stands on the owner's yard or property, and you drive to it as you would to your own storage box. With such offers, check in the listing where the yard is, because you will go there on every visit. This model works much like self storage.
Container with delivery. The advertiser brings the container to where you need it: a building site, a plot or a company yard. With such offers, agree whether delivery and collection are included in the listed price.
The listing description usually makes clear which option it is. If not, ask the advertiser. If you are torn between a container and a warehouse inside a building, you will find a comparison in the article warehouse or container.
Container on the advertiser's yard: what to ask
Lock: whether you fit your own padlock and whether the advertiser has a key to it.
Access to the yard: at what hours you can drive in and how you open the gate.
What you may store: advertisers usually exclude, among other things, fuels, chemicals and things that spoil quickly.
Return conditions: in what condition you hand the container back when the rental ends.
What to look for when viewing the container itself and the yard it stands on is described in the containers category.
Container with delivery: what to ask
Transport cost: whether the price covers delivery and collection, or these are separate fees.
Site and access: the container is usually brought by a truck with a crane. Ask what ground and access it needs, and check that there are no power lines or branches above the unloading spot.
Formalities: placing a container on your own land may require them. More in the article warehouse or container.
Insurance: things in a container standing at your place do not have to be covered by your home insurance. We explain this in the article insuring belongings in a warehouse.
You sign the contract with the advertiser
MaszBox connects the parties to a listing but is not a party to the contract. You agree the rental terms directly with the advertiser. You can check the general points of the contract (rental period, deposit, notice, handover report) against the list for warehouses for rent. With a container, also ask:
who is responsible for the container itself if it is damaged or stolen, especially when it stands on your land,
how much collecting the container costs and when it happens after the rental ends,
whether emptying it before the return is enough, or it also has to be cleaned.
If you will need the container for years, compare renting with listings of containers for sale.
Common questions
No. MaszBox is a listings service. Containers are rented out by companies and private individuals who have added listings, and you sign the contract directly with them.
It depends on the offer. With some containers you fit your own padlock and only you have the key to it. Ask about this before you sign the contract.
It depends on the minimum rental period set by the advertiser. With a delivered container, count the transport cost both ways, because with a very short rental it may not pay off.
