# Storage units - listings across Poland

A storage unit is an extra room outside the flat, usually in the basement of a block or in a garage hall. People keep a bike, tyres, seasonal equipment or boxes there that there is no room for at home. On MaszBox you will find storage unit listings from owners and companies, commission-free, with direct contact with the advertiser.

## Storage units for rent

Renting works well when you need space for a while: for a renovation, a move, or because the flat has become too small. See storage units for rent.

## Storage units for sale

Buying gives you a space for good. Before you buy, check the legal status of the unit, because not every unit can be sold separately from the flat. See storage units for sale.

## Types of storage units

Brick rooms in the basement, most often in older blocks, closed with a lockable door. Basements can be damp, so things sensitive to moisture are better kept in airtight containers. Boxes made of mesh or steel panels, common in newer buildings and garage halls. They are better ventilated, and the contents of a mesh box can be seen from the corridor. We describe materials and ways of fitting out a unit in the guide to fitting out a storage unit.

## Security and insurance

Before renting or buying, check the door, the lock and whether you can add a padlock. Newer buildings often have access control to the basement corridors. Home insurance is sometimes extended to appurtenant rooms, which is worth checking in your insurer's general terms. More in the guide how to protect a storage unit against theft.

## How to organise a storage unit

Shelves up to the ceiling free up the floor, e.g. for a bike. Heavy things low down: tyres and tools on the bottom shelves, light boxes higher up. Airtight, transparent containers instead of cardboard boxes protect against damp, and you can see straight away what is inside.

## Common questions

### How much does it cost to add a storage unit listing?

Nothing. Listings on MaszBox are free and commission-free.

### What must not be kept in a storage unit?

Fire regulations prohibit keeping gas cylinders in basements, even empty ones, and flammable materials in basement corridors. Fuels, solvents and other flammable substances are a fire risk, so they are usually also prohibited by the building rules and the rental agreement.

### Who do I sign the contract with?

Directly with the owner or the company that published the listing. MaszBox provides the listings service and is not a party to the contract. Selling a unit that is a property requires a notarial deed.

## How to search listings

You can search listings without JavaScript: https://maszbox.pl/en/szukaj.md returns results as Markdown. For an agent the simplest way is to pass every filter as a query parameter to that address. Every results address also works with the .md suffix, and a regular page address returns Markdown when the request sends the Accept: text/markdown header.

The full guide, with the address pattern, every filter and its allowed values, price units and paging, is at https://maszbox.pl/en/szukaj.md.
